A message from SGT for Neighbourhood Watch in Greenwich Borough

I am the neighbourhood sergeant for Greenwich West and Peninsula ward I also take an overall view of Neighbourhood watch on behalf of Inspector Willshire who is the Police lead for the borough.

Neighbourhood watch in Greenwich is in my opinion going from strength to strength in the borough. When I joined Greenwich about 3 years ago there wasn’t the understanding within quite a few of the police teams on how valuable NHW is. For me it’s a vital tool to get the public involved in reducing crime and a fantastic way of cascading information such as crime trends and crime prevention advice.

Knowledge has been increased and there is now a real appetite to find new NHW coordinators – fortunately we have Sarah a police community support officer on the borough who is a bit of an expert and overseas the new watches and assists the officers.
